I was able to attend the Star Trek: The Ultimate Voyage production in San Diego on March 31. In short, this concert show highlighting 50 years of Star Trek is fascinating, if not purely mind-blowing.

The video clips of the past half-century were so immersive and well-chosen that you could almost forget that there was a live orchestra performing the music on the stage in front of you. I had tears of joy coming out of my eyes, seeing all the iconic scenes come to life with the symphonic backdrop. Yes, it was that good.

We also had two surprise guest composers that helped conduct the show: Jay Chattaway and Ron Jones, which really put the crown on top of an already great production. I was further fortunate to receive a backstage tour by Star Trek: The Ultimate Voyage’s tour manager, and was introduced to conductor Nicholas Buc, with whom I was able to have both a conversation and snap a photo.

Simply put, this tour is a once-in-a-lifetime event. If you get the chance to go, I highly urge you to do so, as it is an absolute must-see.
